Almost exactly two years ago, Darren J. Cunningham, the adventurous London-based producer who records as Actress, released his stark, nocturnal LP Statik, which made it onto our list of 2024's best electronic albums. Now, Actress goes in a very different direction on his new single "Live By You," a collaboration with the mysterious grime MC CASISDEAD.
"Live By You" is less than two minues long, but that's enough time for it to stretch and sputter. CASISDEAD raps furiously, recounting past horrors, while his voice phases in and out of the static. We don't know if this is a one-off or an early taste of a larger project. But this is cool, so fingers crossed for the latter. Listen below.
