My Morning Jacket's Jim James will soon be gracing us with his first solo album in eight years. The good Mr. Olliges announced Wowed Out in June and shared its pounding, soulful, psychedelic hymn "Come Again." Today he's back with the title track, which keeps the shimmering keyboard sounds and utopian language flowing.
A word from James:
Lately I’ve been really into music like Alice Coltrane’s spiritual recordings where it’s just her and organ praying together, and there’s no major event. I wanted these songs to feel like a journey that takes you somewhere rewarding, without always trying for some big dramatic payoff like a massive chorus or a huge guitar solo.
