Brighton's Porridge Radio were one of the greatest, most reliably cathartic indie rock bands going. So it was a shame when they broke up shortly after 2024's Clouds In The Sky They Will Always Be There For Me, and it's correspondingly exciting to learn frontperson Dana Margolin is launching a solo career.
Margolin's debut solo single is out today, along with a video directed by Mike Mills and Joe Nankin. Despite the title, "Big Beautiful Sound" is softer and quieter than your average explosive Porridge Radio track. Does it sound big? No. But beautiful? Absolutely. "This is the first time I’ve released music using my own name," Margolin writes. "This is a song for finding the magic again when you’ve lost it."
