Schadenfreude time! In recent years, Eric Deters, a right-wing YouTuber who has unsuccessfully run for office multiple times in his native Kentucky, has hosted an event called Patriot's Day Freedom Fest at his Morning View farm in Northern Kentucky, just outside Cincinnati. Deters has called it "the best MAGA event, no question," and past versions have drawn thousands of people. This year's Freedom Fest was scheduled to go down this Saturday, with a list of speakers that included Kid Rock, Dog The Bounty Hunter, and various Republican politicians and media figures. It won't happen because only six people bought VIP tickets.
According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, Eric Deters announced the festival's cancellation in a pissed-off social media video that he posted on Monday. Deters, who posts a lot, reportedly said, "I am never ever, ever, ever, ever doing this event again. Ever." He claimed that he depended on the support of at least 100 of his wealthy associates to buy the $1,000 VIP tickets, which included advertised perks like "meet & greet opportunities," "up-close and personal," and "a premium fest experience." (Non-VIP admission appears to be free.) But only six of those rich people bought the VIP tickets, and Deters isn't happy about it. Per Newsweek, Deters said:
I want to tell you something: Rich people, as a whole, suck...
Out of all these people that have money that I interact with, who I do favors for all day long. They ask me for something, I never say no. I never said no to these people...
None of these people will ever, ever, ever get a favor from me again, ever. Not only will they never get a favor from me again, they do not have Bulldog immunity.
Deters appears to grant Bulldog immunity status to Kid Rock, declining to blame the artist for the cancellation: "Kid Rock’s a good dude. I’m tickled to death he agreed to come." In a statement to Entertainment Weekly, a rep for Kid Rock said, "Kid Rock was added to this event 5 days before it cancelled. He was not performing, only booked to speak at the event. He has no other ties to the event."
