Ariana Grande is currently on her Eternal Sunshine Tour and building up to the release of her new album petal, and she's also suing an unknown group of hackers who, she claims, stole and leaked her unreleased music, photos, and videos. As Billboard reports, Grande's lawyers submitted a lawsuit to a Los Angeles court on Monday, and one of its goals is to reveal the identities of the hackers, possibly by serving subpoenas to internet service providers.
Grande's lawyers claim that these unknown hackers have targeted Grande's photographers and producers, stealing and leaking 45 of her songs in 2023 alone, and that the hackers have then "sold this personal data and content on the dark web for significant sums of money," which violates the "sacred relationship that exists between [Grande] and her fans." The lawsuit stipulates that the music, photos, and videos stolen are "part of her personal and professional creative process" and that they're "not intended for public consumption."
In the lawsuit, Grande's lawyers accuse these John Doe hackers of civil theft, invasion of privacy, and violation of California's hacking laws. In the lawsuit, her lawyers write, "Ms. Grande initiates this action to uncover the identities of these currently unknown and unscrupulous individuals in order to hold them accountable for their invasive and reprehensible conduct."
