In April, the young-ish Chicago quartet Friko released Something Worth Waiting For, a staggering indie rock album we rated as one of this year's absolute best. This Friday, they'll release an expanded version of that record. After sharing "Necessary" along with the announcement, the band followed up this week with another bonus track, the raw and catchy "Dirty Diamond." It does that thing so many Friko songs do well, where all the members play with wild abandon without ever falling out of sync. Bailey Minzenberger's drums feel especially unhinged here.
A word from Niko Kapetan:
One of our most sinister sounding songs to date, this one started out as more of a 6 minute epic but we ended up shortening it in the studio when we recorded it. It feels more concise and impactful as a burst of dark, ripping energy.
