Ganser – “Futuretripping”

2:08 PM EDT on September 10, 2026

Alicia Gaines and Brian Cundiff are back today with a fresh Ganser track ahead of tour dates with Bikini Kill. New single "Futuretripping" comes with Mad Men-esque cover art, a Gaines-directed video, and some irresistible bass work. The arrangement is littered with appealing flickers of sound, but don't miss Gaines' lyrics, which are highly quotable without getting all showy about it. One of my favorites:

TV says we’re winning
Computer says we’re fine

A man is selling umbrellas
under a clear sky, singing

You can borrow tomorrow
I know a guy
He's got a connection
but he’s hard to find

Gaines offered a statement on the track:

Ahead of going on the road with Bikini Kill, I was interested in the concept of cheating time, where one could go for just a little more of it. After coming back from Europe earlier this year, we found our personal senses of time were distorted as we were dropped back into life in Chicago, mixing the mundane with the fantastical. Reaching into tomorrow for a little more of today became an inside joke, now "Futuretripping."

And from Cundiff:

Everybody’s waiting for the sign to change. People tend to wait around to be fed what they should react to these days, what to do, and I suppose there’s a bit of that restlessness in the music and lyrics as well. It’s an agitation that it’s not tomorrow while also wanting more time today, right now.
